Painting & gilding of a Vajrayogini statue
This gorgeous and powerful bronze statue of Vajrayogini needed to be painted and gilded. The pictures give a good example of how a painted facial expression on a statue can give it so much more charisma.
Vajrayogini is a beautiful, standing figure with a wrathful tantric expression on her face, and the crown in her hair is decorated with skulls. She has a third eye and fangs and holds in her hand a skull cup with blood from which she drinks.
Carmen Mensink was commissioned to paint this vibrant statue, and she also painted the Vajrayogini thangka that you see behind the statue.
