Painting & gilding a statue of Lama Tsong Khapa
This statue was quite roughly made, and had unbalanced features. When this is the case (usually cheaper statues made from copper) it’s even more a challenge to make the face appear in a more balanced way, with real gold and paints, as you can see in the pictures below.
Lama Tsongkhapa (or Je Tsongkapa) is the founding father of the Gelug school (there are four main traditions or schools in Tibetan Buddhism). He lived in the fourteenth century (1357–1419) and was a famous teacher of Tibetan Buddhism whose activities led to the formation of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. Losang Drakpan is his ordained name.
