The Female Buddha Face

NYC – Day workshop

Thangka workshop that celebrates the feminine energy in Buddhism!

In this special day workshop you will learn how to draw the face of a female Buddha (such as the face of Green Tara or White Tara). This is dome through the Tibetan Buddhist thangka tradition and therefore we will work with the traditional ‘grid measurements’ that contain the right proportions.

Besides the drawing sessions, this workshop contains a short meditation and a presentation on the symbolism of the female Buddha face. There is individual guidance and a lot of room for questions.

NOTE: If you are new to this you can also choose to draw the Buddha Face instead, which is usually the first step in thangka painting, and much easier than the female face.

The use of materials is included, but you are welcome to bring your favorite art materials as well.
Also bring some slippers or thick socks to wear.

NOTE: The Buddha face workshop and/or this workshop offer you the perfect basis for the courses during this thangka tour where you will learn to create a complete Buddha: White Tara, Female Buddha of Longevity, May 24-26 and/or Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche), the Second Buddha, May 31-June 2

Other tibetan art courses during this year’s tour: Lotus flowers, May 21, and Buddha Face, May 23, and Create a Tibetan Amulet for Healing, May 24
