Thangka Painting & White Tara

On invitation of the Drukpa Singapore Centre, renowned thangka painter and teacher Carmen Mensink from The Netherlands will offer a special evening on The Art of Thangka Painting and on White Tara, the Buddha of Longevity.

Thangkas are the scroll paintings that are made in the ancient Tibetan Buddhist tradition, that is surrounded by lots of rituals. This evening you will learn all about it, and get a better understanding of this beautiful and meditative art. After this you will look at a thangka in a different way.

In addition, Carmen will explain about the backgrounds and symbolism of White Tara.

Buddhist pantheon.
Her practice can be done to prolong your life and to overcome life-threatening obstacles such as illnesses.

Face of the Buddha Thangka Drawing Workshop on Thu evening 13 feb.
You don’t need to have any drawing experience (there’s a lot of individual guidance by Carmen) and all materials are included.

White Tara Thangka Drawing Course on Sat 15 + Sun 16 Feb.
In addition to the drawing sessions meditations on White Tara are offered, as well as explanation of her symbolism and her mantra.
According to the tradition, the requirement for this course is the Face of the Buddha workshop (that you can join on Thu evening 13 feb., or have done at a previous course with Carmen). There’s a lot of individual guidance by Carmen and all materials are included.

A discount is offered to those who join both courses.

If you are a Buddhist practitioner, drawing a Buddha image will significantly improve the visualisation in your meditations.
