Draw the Face of the Buddha
according to the Tibetan tradition
During this workshop at the Pratt Manhattan Center you will learn how to draw the Face of the Buddha according to the Tibetan Buddhist tradition of Thangka (scroll paintings).
This workshop is the best introduction if you want to learn about drawing and painting Tibetan thangkas.
This workshop also includes a lecture to learn more about the backgrounds and symbolism of Tibetan thangkas, and a short guided meditation.
Drawing experience is not necessary.
Carmen offers individual guidance and will bring out the best in everyone, each on their own level (and move them to a higher one!).
Tip: Combine this evening workshop with the Manjushri, the Buddha of Wisdom Course that takes place in the same building the days after!
Note: as the Buddha Face workshop is the prerequisite for longer thangka courses where you learn to draw a complete Buddha, you could continue your thangka journey and study further online at the School for Tibetan Buddhist Art and choose from classes such as The Buddha (Shakyamuni), the Medicine Buddha (Buddha of Healing), and White Tara (Buddha of Longevity).
