Welcome to the Inspiration Gallery! Here displayed are the artworks that were created during the online The Buddha Thangka Art Course (Buddha Shakyamuni, the Historical Buddha of our time) with Carmen Mensink, Edition 2022, at the School for Tibetan Buddhist Art.
These traditional Tibetan artworks are made by people from all over the world, and both with and without any drawing experience. Not only express these images the enlightened Buddha mind, they also convey the beauty, love and dedication of the maker. ππΌ
Isn’t each and every one of them amazing?

I learned a lot during this process
I loved this course.Β I am not quite finished. But I will submit what I have so far. I learned a lot during this process. Next time, I would do some things differently. This time, I focused on the proportions and lines. Next time, I will focus more on the shading and color combinations. I found that when I was going in to darken some lines and add some contrast, i probably could have continued with the finishing touches for days. I decided to stop and not overwork it. But to give it a rest. In a few days, I will finish the mountains. I can’t wait to start my next buddha with the lessons learned from this one.

If someone told me I would ever be able to draw Buddha Shakyamuni I would laugh
I loved the course because it gives indepth instructions on drawing Buddha Shakyamuni but still in bite size pieces so that one can easily plan out their journey. The mix of drawing instructions with lectures on the life of the Buddha, meditations and chanting, means one not only gets to understand the Buddha and the basics of Buddhism, but also gets meditative background, to start their drawing and then throughout their process.
I have always loved drawing and would have drawn on and off years ago but if someone told me I would ever be able to draw Buddha Shakyamuni I would laugh. Carmen’s instructions make it all possible!
Sorry for unfinished drawing- I was in a middle of house search and moving during the course. Looking forward to finishing my drawing and trying to draw the Buddha again.
Thank you Carmen π
Thank you to everyone on this course π Hopefully meet you all soon again, even if virtually.

The course was as always very good prepared
I did it. Thanks Carmen for the grid of Buddha Shakyamuni and of the Torana with the six perfections. The course was as always very good prepared and I have learned a lot about Buddha Shakyamuni and Buddhism. It was a great pleasure again and I recommend the online courses of Carmen if you want to learn about Buddhism, want to learn to draw a Buddha and get more information about the Buddha you are drawing.
